The Hilliard Civic Association is excited to announce their continued partnership for the annual Run to Remember 5k, taking place Saturday, September 14, 2019 in partnership with the Old Hilliardfest Art & Street Fair.
Presented by the Rotary Club of Hilliard, the race is hosted in tribute of both the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11 for the safety and well-being of others, and also those who serve in uniform past, present, and future.
Day-of registration is available an hour prior to the event, but pre-registration is encouraged and available via the race website. Parking will be available in the school parking lot located near Hilliard Sixth Grade Station and Hilliard Heritage Middle School, where a small ceremony will be conducted before the race begins to set the tenor of the morning.
Departing from Hilliard Sixth Grade Station at 9:15am, the race will travel West on the bike path along Scioto Darby Road, continue North on the bike path along Leppert Road, meet up with the Heritage Rail-Trail heading west, crossing Leppert Road and nearly to Cosgray Road, then continues back east on the trail towards Old Hilliard, and concludes at First Responders Park in Old Hilliard, Ohio.
After race completion, participants will receive a flower in remembrance of 9/11 and are encouraged to place the flower at the base of the First Responders Memorial, accompanied by patriotic music, followed by a ceremony to begin once the final race participant completes the course, about 10am.
At the conclusion of the First Responders Park ceremony, we invite all participants to enjoy Old Hilliardfest, which features live music, great food, kids games, inflatables, and much more.
Race Registration Fees are as follows: $20 until 7/14, $25 until 8/18, and $30 through race day.
Race Day Schedule is as follows: 7:30am, registration opens; 9:10am, pre-race ceremony; 9:15am, race begins; and 10am, awards and post-race ceremony.
